Extension Services
 

The college has always focused on pending students on all round development and helping them to be aware of social needs and to be socially responsible too. In this endeavour the students of our institution have been part of many community related activities.

 

NSS

The college has NSS unit and it is headed by Mrs.X.Della, Programme officer of NSS. There are many opportunities at Holy Cross Home Science College for students to engage in service to the community through various awareness programmes to public sector. The NSS volunteers at Holy Cross Home Science  College are involved in a wide spectrum of activities such as

  • Diet counseling camps
  • Income generation programmes
  • AIDS awareness programmes
  • Social service areas around the campus

The NSS unit adopts a village once in 5 years and works for the development of the village.


Extension Services – YRC

The Youth Red Cross is a function with the one and only aim of serving people in distress without any consideration of caste, religion, language and nationality. The Youth Red Cross is functioning actively in our college since 2005. It was started with the intention of motivating the students to serve the community in various ways. Some of the activities are

Extension Services – RRC

The Red Ribbon Club is a voluntary on-campus intervention programmes for students in educational institutions. It is initiated and supported by the State AIDS Control Society and implemented through multi-sectoral collaboration, particularly, using the services of cadre officers of the State's National Service Scheme (NSS). The Red Ribbon club is functioning actively in our college since 2005. The programme will address the knowledge, attitude and behavior of the youths in the interrelated areas of Voluntary Blood Donation, HIV & AIDS and sexuality, as demanded by their age, environment, and life style.

 

Extension Services – Yoga

“A healthy body paves way for a healthy body” Yoga sessions are conducted by yoga masters to staff & students to maintain them both healthy body & mind.
 
Sports
 

The Holy Cross Home Science College has fields in the campus for kho-kho ground, Volley ball, and badminton etc., Pitch for net practice. The campus has good infrastructure for sports and games programmes. Adequate space for Indoor games are also available with sufficient equipments in the hostel like chess, Carom etc,. Students participate regularly in intercollegiate and interuniversity tournaments.

 
 
Outreach Program
 
Across the curriculum, our social justice emphasis fosters ethical behavior & Civic engagement. We actively serve our neighbours with volunteers from our institution. We share our gifts with the less fortunate, providing books to the school aged children of the villages. Each department of our institution has adopted a village and extends their mission far beyond the classroom.

PTA
 
Parents were eager to know about the progress of their daughters in academics during the Parent Teachers Meet. The department convenes a Parent- Teacher interface in order to hand over the mark lists of students directly to the parents or guardians. It facilitates the meeting with Head of the Departments & Class teachers. So that the parents or guardian are given an assessment of the progress of their wards in studies.

AICUF

To help in the Christian formation of Catholic students and to promote qualities of Catholic leadership, a unit of All India Catholic University Federation is functioning in the college. All Catholic students are its members. The AICUF members evaluate & plan future programmes.
 

Youth Welfare

The Youth Welfare is essential component of human resources development that helps to promote good health and a spirit of friendly competition that have positive impact on the total development of the personality of the youth. It is the aim of the Youth Welfare Department to develop qualities of citizenship and dedication to community service among all sections of the youth.
Youth Welfare programmes are

  • Conducting sports & talent competition
  • Conducting motivation programmes & carrier Guidance for the youth.
 

Career guidance & Placement cell

The career guidance & placement cell assist students with a variety of educational, career & Personal problems. Employment oriented publications are available in the library and regularly put up on the notice-board. Final year students of UG & PG are given training periodically to face the tests & interviews held by the respected recruiting agencies.
 

Grievance Redressal cell

The Complaint registers to record grievances are kept at strategic places in the college. The Cell counsels students on academic and personal problems regularly. Any Complaint registered looked in to, both for solution and prevention by the cell.
 

Language Club


Holy Cross Home Science College is started to enhance the creative and hidden talents among students. Our Language Club comes under the department of English Literature. It conducted five days competition under the topic ‘English Rocks’ from 13.9.10 – 17.9.10. The competitions are
